Welcome to the 2023 Winter Olympics

Thanks you so much for entering the 2023 Winter Olympics. This event is in it’s 14th year and we look to have record number of entries. We really appreciate your support!

Mt Herbert Farm- this event takes part on a working farm and visitors are advised to enter at your own risk. Visitors are expected to keep away from waterways, buildings, machinery and unfamiliar animals. Parents need to take full responsibility for their children, at all times.

By entering this property, visitors acknowledge that riding and handling horses can be extremely dangerous and unpredictable. Riders need to take all care to minimise risk; this includes ensuring that their gear is safe and that their horse/pony is suitably prepared for the event.

Parking will be tight, so please park sensibly- to enable space for everyone. Here are a few suggestions;

- riders who are in floats are recommended to enter the property at the home entrance at 1075 Porangahau Road. There will be parking available in the horse paddock to the right of the driveway.

- trucks should enter at 1101 Porangahau Rd and park around the stables, cottage and woolshed area.

-spectators and officials driving cars will find a lot of suitable parking around the main homestead.

All riders are reminded to pick up their complimentary McMillans Riders Pack from the Secretary’s Office. And please look out for Post Office depots around the facility, where riders can write a note of thanks to our sponsors, during any spare time.

The Dannevirke Hunt will have a BBQ lunch, snacks and drinks available to buy during the day, please bring cash. The Secondhand Shop, Coffee cart, bouncy castle and other trade stands will be located near the main arena.

Our medics, Medics on Scene, will be based near the main arena and trade area.

The toilets can be found in the woolshed and dotted around the facility.

All classes will be run in Blackboard Order, unless otherwise advised.

Back protectors are recommended but are not compulsory.

Hopefully we can all work together to make this a fun, safe and profitable charity event. If you see our volunteers under pressure, feel free to lend a hand. If you see a rider needing support, do what you can to help. Let us make this a happy atmosphere and celebrate the chance to be out competing and having fun.

Thanks for supporting the 2023 Winter Olympics

Kind regards, Claire Wilson
