McVean and Daffodil Easy Winners
Monday, 29 November 2010

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; "><strong>Showjumpers Katie McVean and Dunstan Daffodil have
again left the field in their wake with a convincing win in the North Island
super league grand prix at Foxton today (Sunday).</strong></span></p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The Mystery Creek rider finished on just four faults
from the two rounds, with the second and placed Catherine Cameron (Cambridge) on
Kahurangi Valentino and Kahurangi Tardak on 16 faults apiece.</font>

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">McVean was rapt with her home bred horse.</span>
</p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal">“<font face="Arial, sans-serif">She has definitely stepped up this year and is just
amazing. She tries so hard,” says McVean, who is not long back from riding for
New Zealand at the World Equestrian Games.</font>
</p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The combination picked up their four faults with a foot
in the water in the first round, and McVean says it was entirely her
fault.</font>
</p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal">“<font face="Arial, sans-serif">It was a funny line into the water and I added a step.
Daffodil tried hard to make it but we just couldn't.”</font>
</p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The two had the luxury of being last to go of the six
that progressed through to the second round.</font>

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">That line into the water caught a number of the 12
starters in the big class of the day at the three day North Island
Championships.</font>

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm; FONT-WEIGHT: normal"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The win topped off an excellent show for McVean, who
also won the seven year old and 1.3m on her little Dutch horse Zasjany who she
rates as having a big future.</font>
