Locals Shine at Taranaki
Sunday, 23 November 2014

Tim Myers took every advantage of competing at his home track with a win and a place in two grand prix at two Taranaki events at the weekend.

Aboard Pick Me NZPH, a horse he has brought carefully through the grades, Myers won the Country TV Horse Grand Prix today at the Taranaki Equestrian Jumping Show, and was second yesterday (Saturday) in the same class at the Egmont A and P Show.

Today saw a brilliant battle between Myers and fellow local, Lydia Quay on her own Kaipara Double Dee.

The two were the only combinations to go double clear over the Philippa Howells designed course. Myers was out first and threw down the challenge, stopping the clock at 40.18 seconds. While Quay tried her darnedest, she came up just short with 40.35.

The two pony grand prix attracted good entries and more fierce competition. Jamie Jefferson (Ngaruawahia) on Envious Edition took the honours at the Egmont Show, with Maddison Bult (Henderson) and Mr Black Magic winning today with the only double clear round. Bult had placed second to Jefferson, and also picked up a fifth aboard her other pony Pioneer High Jinx.

Shanae McKay (Levin) was also a stand out today, placing second on Guthrie and third on Kabo So Far. She was also in the line up at the Egmont Show earlier in the weekend.
