More Success for Brian and McNaught-McFarlane

Helen McNaught-McFarlane’s golden run continued today, with another horse grand prix victory, this time at the Wairarapa Area Show Hunter and Showjumping Championships in Masterton.

The British rider, who moved to Taupo with her showjumping husband Duncan McFarlane earlier this year, has already enjoyed multiple successes with her youngster Carnutelabryere, early in the New Zealand season.

Today they headed home a small but quality field to take the honours ahead of Lucy Akers (Opiki) and Tinapai.

Maurice Beatson (Dannevirke) and Schimmel Warrior had to settle for third in this class, but he managed to win three other classes in the premier ring at the show, including the six and seven year old series classes aboard Radiant and Mandalay Cove respectively.

Emily Hayward-Morgan (Te Awamutu) showed she is one to watch in the future, taking the quinella in the junior rider and placing sixth in the young rider.

The weather played havoc at the three day show, which was held at the picture-perfect Solway Showgrounds in Masterton.
