Fastest jumpoff but the last rail drops

rail in a $CAN90,000 grand prix proved expensive for top New Zealand showjumper
Katie McVean in Canada this morning (Monday).</strong></font>

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">McVean and
nine-year-old Dunstan Delphi had to settle for third place behind Canadians
Lauren Hunkin on Larry 0146 and Jill Henselwood on Bottom Line in the Summer
Festival CSI2* world cup grand prix at the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave,
Ontario.</font>

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">The relegation to
third was made all the tougher because the Kiwi combination clocked the fastest
time of the jump-off – three of whom are on Canada's World Equestrian Games
shortlist.</font>
</p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">McVean pocketed
$CAN13,500 for her efforts at the four day show aboard the current New Zealand
Showjumper of the Year who has been the subject of plenty of attention from
would-be-offshore buyers.</font>
</p><br>
<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">Earlier in the show
she and Whitaker MVNZ (owned by Wendy and Richard Keddell – Mount View Sport
Horses) won the 1.35m and were a little unlucky in the 1.45m modified grand prix
which saw them take the first fence but fly the rest of the course.</font>

<p style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0cm"><font face="Arial, sans-serif">McVean and her team
now head to a show in Ottawa where she and Delphi will start in a $CAN50,000
grand prix. Also on the cards is a $S250,000 grand prix at the Hampton Classic
