Paget Sixth at End of Pau Dressage
Friday, 14 October 2016

Jock Paget and Clifton Signature sit in sixth place, well in touch with the leader, at the end of the dressage phase in the CCI4* at Les 4 Etoiles de Pau in France this morning.

The Kiwi combo scored 44 penalty points while 2015 runner-up Tim Price sits in 11th place on 48 aboard Xavier Faer, who is having his first 4* start.

Caroline Powell and Flying Finish scored 52.9 to sit in 27th while aboard her other horse Spice Sensation, she is in 37th place on 58.4.

Reigning Olympic champ Michael Jung and FischerTakinou were the only combination to go under the 40 penalty point mark with their 39.3 effort. Despite a stellar career, Pau is the only 4* event Jung hasn’t won. He is also in fourth place aboard FischerRocana FST.

The British are well represented at the top of the leaderboard, with four in the top 10.

The Pierre Michelet-designed cross country starts at 1.15pm (FRA time), with Chris Burton (AUS) aboard TS Jamaimo first out, followed by Powell and Spice Sensation.

Price and Xavier Faer go at 3.07pm, Powell and Flying Finish at 3.23pm and Paget aboard Clifton Signature at 3.43pm.

The optimum time for the 6270m run, which riders are describing as challenging and full of twists, turns and changes of camber, is 11 minutes.

The cross country will be screened on FEI TV, with live results on www.worldsporttiming.com .
