NZ Eventers Seventh and Ninth in Germany
Sunday, 17 July 2016

Two New Zealand eventers have this afternoon placed in the top 10 in the CICO3* at the prestigious CHIO Aachen, with the team placing fourth.

Rio-bound riders Jonelle Price and Jock Paget placed seventh and ninth respectively in the 42-strong class which was dominated by the Germans and Australians.

Michael Jung (GER) won aboard fischer Takinou on 42.4 penalty points, with Shane Rose (AUS) and CP Qualified second on 42.8 and Ingrid Klimke (GER) third on Horseware Hale Bob OLD with 44.3 and fourth with SAP Escada FRH with 46.9.

Price and Faerie Dianimo were seventh on 50.1, with Paget and Clifton Signature (owned by Frances Stead and Russell Hall) ninth with 52.2. Faerie Dianimo (owned by Trisha Rickards, Jacky Green and Price) was lying second at the end of the dressage, and is one of two horses Price has in the mix for Rio – the other being Classic Moet (owned by Trisha Rickards and Price). A decision on just which horse she is taking will be made early in the coming week.

Australia won the teams event, with Germany second, Ireland third and New Zealand fourth. It is the first time Germany has not won the Nations’ Cup competition at Aachen.
