Dressage Day at NRM National 3DE

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>It was the South Island’s day at the National
Three-day Event at Taupo today, with their riders holding the top four spots in
the NRM CCI3* class at the Fiber Fresh National Equestrian Centre.<br></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Emily Cammock (<st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Christchurch</st1:place></st1:city>) has a narrow lead on Dambala,
scoring 48 penalties, with Larissa Srhoy (Ashburton) a whisker behind on
Starburst with 48.4 penalties. Annabel Wigley (Amberley) is third on NRM Frog
Rock with 54.2, followed by Brent Jury on SE Big with 56 penalties.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The first North Islander, Heelan Tompkns
(New Plymouth), lies fifth with the Crothers family’s Major Difference on 59.4
penalties, with Annabel sixth on her second ride, NRM Enzo, on 59.6. Heelan is
seventh on her second ride, Pip McCarroll’s Cortaflex Up N Go on 60.4
penalties.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The field was reduced to eleven starters
with the late scratching of Donnas Smith’s ride, Sarah and Tim Varley’s Just
Chocolate, leaving the North Island team with four riders, but with the best
three scores of each team counting, the South Island have a runaway lead at
this stage.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">&nbsp;</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">The Bates CCI2* class, with thirty-one
starters, is led by Chelsey Hawthorn (Hamilton) on Pioneer Zeuss with 44.6
penalties, ahead of the overnight leader Donna Smith (Te Kauwhata) on Balmoral
Sensation on 46.8. South Islander Katie Rankin (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Christchurch</st1:city></st1:place>) on Time To Tango Too is third
equal with Ben Bateman (Feilding) on Fiber Fresh Façade on 47.4 penalties.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">Conditions look ideal for Saturday’s
cross-country, with John Nicholson’s course drawing favourable comment from
riders and spectators alike. Brent Jury describes it as “absolutely awesome”,
with the Australian Technical Delegate, Neil Clinton, saying, “The design,
layout, and decoration is first class. It’s a very good course, testing and
challenging.”</span></p>
