Australians Take Early Lead in Oceania Championships
Friday, 9 June 2017

The opening day of the 2017 Melbourne International 3 Day Event saw Australia’s Oceania Championships Young Rider Team get off to a winning start in the CCI2* dressage phase.

The highest placed Australian representative young rider after dressage was Gemma Tinney on her Warmblood/Thoroughbred mare Annapurna. As the last competitor in the arena for the day, she rode a confident, clean and accurate test to help elevate the Australian Young Rider Team to a slender lead over the Kiwis.
She is currently placed third in the overall individual standings behind Andrew Barnett.

There has been plenty of attention on Gemma Tinney and her father Stuart this week.

They are the first father and daughter team to represent Australia in Eventing. Gemma is on the Young Rider Team and Stuart, a dual Olympic medallist, will ride on the Senior Team for the 2017 Oceania Championships.
