Points Tight at Top of Leaderboard in Aachen

New Zealand eventers are sitting second behind hosts Germany at the CICO3* FEI Nations Cup in Aachen after the dressage and showjumping phases, but there is nothing in it between the top three teams.
Jonelle Price and Faerie Dianimo (owned by Trisha Rickards and Jacky Green was the best of the Kiwis, and sits in seventh place individually on her dressage score of 37.4 penalty points.
Tim Price and Wesko (owned by Christina Knudsen and the Wesko Syndicate) is just behind her in ninth on his dressage score of 40.2, with Sir Mark Todd and NZB Campino (owned by New Zealand Bloodstock and Todd) 12th on his 43.6 dressage score.
Jock Paget and Clifton Lush (owned by Frances Stead and Lucy Allison) is the drop off score – he scored 46.2 for his dressage and added faults in the showjumping to finish on 54.2.
The team is on 121.1, with Germany on 118.1 and Great Britain on 123.6. Individual Caroline Powell and Onwards and Upwards (owned by Cameron and Mary Crawford and Powell) sits in 31st place on 54.3.
Paget will be first out for New Zealand on the cross country tonight, heading out in 10th spot, followed by Powell at 19, Todd at 23, Tim Price at 35 and Jonelle Price at 37 in the 42-strong field.
The Aachen event is also the FEI European Championships, but the eventing competition is not part of it. However, it is the last trial for the German team before the European Championships at Blair Castle in Scotland, so there is plenty of pressure on them all to produce their best.
