National Titles at SI 3DE
Thursday, 18 April 2013

The National Young and Junior Rider Three-day Event titles, which will be contested at the South Island Three-day Event at McLeans Island, near Christchurch, this weekend, will also earn double points in the respective ESNZ Eventing series, which run throughout the competition year.

The Alltech Junior series is led by South Islander Ellie Braddock on Miss Matilda, with the CCI1* Junior Rider defending champions Bonnie Farrant and Kaipara Dior hoping to improve their standing from fifth place in the series currently. Both are among the six Juniors seeking the title.

The leader of the Massey University Young Rider series cannot be caught, but Tayla Mason, from Waikanae, who won the Young Rider One-day Event title at Rotorua last month, is the only Young Rider contesting the CCI2*, so only has to complete the event to take this title as well, and improve her seventh position in the series in the process.

The CCI2* also sees an interesting tussle between Reefton”s Eve Hawes on Hurlingham Lansong and Fraser King, New Plymouth, on Nadal KSNZ, who are second and third in the Pro-Am series, and have been jockeying position all season.

The CIC3* (short format) is a Bell Tea Super League class, but with only two starters it will be a winner takes all situation, and will not affect the order at the top of the Super League table..
