YEAR LONG EVENTING SERIES FINALISED

All six of the year long ESNZ Eventing series were completed at the NRM Three-Day Event at Taupo over the weekend. Some had already been won, others went down to the wire, but places changed down the order in all series except the Grassroots. Australia’s Young Rider team cruised to a comfortable victory in the CCI2* Young Rider leg of the 2017 Oceania Championships today at the Melbourne International 3 Day Event. The team of four women including Gemma Tinney, Shenae Lowings, Olivia Barton and Tayah Andrew went into the final show jumping phase with a dominant lead and they maintained their strong position right until the very end to win by 65 penalties. Kiwi Senior Team Gets Early Jump on the Aussies

The New Zealand Senior Team has taken the early lead in the 2017 Oceania Championships CCI3 * competition after the Dressage phase today. After the huge downpour of rain overnight, the horses and riders had to struggle through lakes of water, and the arenas soon became a bog. Simon Gordon and Fletch.com were rewarded for their consistency after placing second in the CIC3* class at the Kihikihi Horse Trials over the weekend, following their win in the title class at the Horse of the Year, moving from third place in the Bell Tea Super League to take the lead, ahead of Ashleigh McKinstry and Pioneer Makokomiko, who did not add to their points total after parting company on the cross-country.

There is a new Bell Tea Super League leader following the Fiber Fresh CIC3* at Woodhill Sands over the weekend. Former international Donna Smith, Te Kauwhata, won the class on Tim and Sarah Varley’s Just Chocolate, to leap onto the board in top spot.
